Upon arrival to San Jose, Costa Rica, you may take a taxi to your hotel. There are always taxies available at the airport, even minivans for those of you who carry a lot of gear. We can also arrange for your airport transfer as well as for accommodations at several hotels in San Jose. The night before departure our representative will inform you at your hotel of your pick up time for transport to the vessel. Please note that we do not pick up from all San Jose hotels. The evenings onshore are at your leisure. Hotel nights and meals before and after the cruise are not included. Please contact us for further information.
Day 2
On the day of departure to Cocos Island, generally between 8 AM and 1 PM, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Puntarenas, the seaport village where you will board the vessel. The drive takes about 2.5 hours and gives you a chance to view the lush tropical forest and rich farmland of the region. On the way there will be a stop for a snack or lunch. The price of this meal is not included in the price of the trip. At the end of the trip you disembark at 8 AM and will be transferred back to your hotel in San Jose.
Other transfers
If for some reason you should need a transfer to or from Puntarenas other than the one offered by Undersea Hunter, taxi service is available. Information on request.
Day 3
A travel day. There will be time to arrange dive and camera gear as well as enjoy the Pacific and the sunshine. Also, the group of incredibly experienced divers provides plenty of stories to pass the time. There are videos and the experience of the Captain and crew to help you get excited for the diving. In addition, you may want to take this time to take one of our technical diving courses.
Day 4 - 9
Spent diving the pinnacles around the perimeter of Cocos Island. Divers usually average three dives per day at depths of 60-100' or more. Water temperature of approximately 78-82F (27-30C).
Day 10 - 11
The last day diving before the cruise back to Costa Rica and reality!
During the cruising back we have all day to discuss the diving and to compare your adventures and photo's !
Day 12
Arrival in Puntarenas. Immediately after breakfast you will be transported back to San Jose. Upon arrival in San Jose you will need to spend an additional hotel night as airline departures are the following morning.
