"Meine Frau und ich haben über "Waterproof Expeditions " vom 10.bis 19.2.2009 eine Antarktika Reise mit der G. Mikheev unter- nommen.
Buchung und Infos über Internet waren hervorragend und hilfreich.
Das kleine Russische Forschungsschiff mit 45 Passagieren sorgte für eine ausgelassene und intime Atmosphäre, so dass sich gegen Ende der Reise eine Stimmung wie in einer grossen Familie zwischen besatzung,Expeditionsleitern
(Jonas, Jamie u.a.) und den Teilnehmern einstellte. Trotz des zwanglosen Umgangs gab es sehr informative und gut dargestellte Vorträge über Flora und Fauna der jeweiligen Abschnitte, die die straff geführten und vielseitigen Ausflüge an Land vorbereiteten, immer auch unter dem Aspekt einer umweltbewussten und die Tiere schonenden Haltung von uns allen.

Wer sich auch im Alter einen sportlichen und abendteuerlichen Hang bewahrt hat, dem kommt die Grösse und Ausstattung des Schiffes entgegen. Für uns war es eine wunderbare Expedition mit einer Überraschung am Ende- eine CD mit allen Teilnehmern von Mensch bis Tier! Wer den Massentourismus mit seinen hohen Kosten scheut und dennoch diese ferne aufregende Landschaft kennenlernen möchte, ist auf diesen kleinen Schiffen mit den erfahrenen Besatzungen gut aufgehoben, Insgesamt: sehr zu emfehlen!"

"I had a great time on the expedition. The scenery and wildlife was truly breathtaking and it was really great to get so close to whales, penguins and seals. Our guide Jamie was exceptionally knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the wildlife in the antarctic and shared this with us.

Being on a smaller tour enabled us to all quickly disembark for zodiac cruises and landings on the antarctic continent so we made the most of the time we had there. The flexibility offered meant that we could change plans to follow opportunities for greater wildlife viewing.

Having divers on the trip meant that photos and experiences could be shared between the groups and lots of good humoured banter and rivalry ensued. Having both groups meant that more was ultimately seen by all.
